I'm competing in Miss Illinois for a few reasons. I feel that this would be a new and exciting opportunity for me. This is my very first pageant. Above all, I want to advocate for the things that I believe in. I think that there's a lot of problems happening today that aren't discussed about enough. I'd love to be able to spread awareness about these issues.
I was initially tentative about participating in a pageant. However, I chose to compete for the title of Miss Illinois USA because life is about taking risks. Signing on as a contestant in this state pageant is quite the commitment, but one that I'm willing to make, as nothing in this world that's worth having comes easy. The title of Miss Illinois USA would provide me the opportunity to become the best version of myself I can be by inspiring others, sharing my story, and embarking on the experience of a lifetime. I am just a small town girl from the North Shore of Chicago, but one with big dreams, and if you can dream it, you can do it! Thank you for supporting me along my journey. I am excited for whatever lies ahead!
Through pageantry, I have developed confidence, speaking skills, and a presence to advocate for my community. My local title has given me a microphone to serve the citizens of Illinois and bring awareness to the US illiteracy rate with my nonprofit organization: Rachel’s HEART (Helping Empower Adolescents through Reading and Tutoring). Being a contestant for the job of Miss Illinois USA will allow me to effectively provide books to children of low-income families and advocate for education across the nation.
Being a contestant at Miss Illinois USA will help me to be a spokesperson for Southern Illinois, to break barriers and stereotypes, and show my willingness to work hard to represent the state of Illinois on a national level. It’s a push for personal and professional growth in all areas of my life and I am up for the challenge.
I am competing for Miss Illinois Teen USA because I think it would be an amazing experience for me. I have always loved doing pageants and getting to compete at a state level is truly an honor. I love being part of the community and meeting new people.
